January through March - Whale watching! 1/13 Avalon Benefit 50 Mile Run One of the country's most challenging and scenic 50-milers with no cars, no smog, just great terrain, incredible vistas with an occasional buffalo sighting! The run starts in Avalon at 5:00 AM, continues to Two Harbors and ends back in Avalon at approximately 5:00 PM. Benefits all Lions Club Charities. For information call. The race traverses mostly dirt trails and roads through areas of the interior of the Island where very few have gone. The race starts in Two Harbors and runs to Avalon. This annual event is a fun way to support the Catalina Island Conservancy.
