Getting to Catalina Island A trip to Catalina is a bit reminiscent of the movie Planes, Trains and Automobiles because if you are travelling to the Island by air, you will need to take a plane, a limo and a boat. To take the mystery out of this process, I've divided Getting to the Island into two categories: flying and driving. FLYING. If you fly to the Los Angeles airport or Long Beach airport you could find the cab station or negotiate for an express limo. Express (non-stop) shuttles pick you up at the gate and get you to the boats (and back). DRIVING. Drive your car to the parking lots available with the island transport you chose: Catalina Express (San Pedro or Long Beach), or Island Helicopter (San Pedro or Long Beach). Once you have arrived at the boat terminal parking lot of choice, you have basically three choices from the boat terminal to the island. Check their schedules, their prices and their transport times to find the best crossing for you. Catalina Express Island Helicopter I HAVE NO ARRANGEMENTS WITH ANY OF THESE FOLKS. I'M PROVIDING THIS INFORMATION IN HOPES THAT IT WILL MAKE GETTING TO THE ISLAND (AND MY HOME) LESS STRESSFUL. THESE FOLKS WILL HELP YOU DECIDE UPON THE CROSSING THAT BEST MEETS YOUR PLANS AND POCKETBOOK.
